We are currently planning for the next 24 issues of Code of the Week. If you have any suggestions of source code that you would like to see covered, please jump to our feedback page at http://www.codeoftheweek.com/feedback.html and let us know.
The source code in this issue is designed for 32-bit Visual Basic 4.0 and higher. As far as we know this code only works with Windows 95. Some features might work with Windows NT. It does not work with any 16-bit platforms.
In this issue we are going to show how to Shutdown, Logoff, or Reboot Windows from Visual Basic. A few subscribers asked us how to perform these functions.
This module contains several subroutines that will allow you to perform most of the functionality on the Start Menu / Shutdown option. The subroutines in this module work by calling the Windows API call ExitWindowsEx.
To use this module, just add it to any project you are working on and call the desired function.
The above call will logout the current user and prompt for a new username
To see the source code for this issue you must be a subscriber to Code of the Week. If you are a subscriber the source code is available at the following address: http://www.codeoftheweek.com/membersonly/bi/0005.html
That concludes this issue of COTW. We hope you find the source code useful in your development.
The below describes the ways you can supply us some feedback about COTW. We would like to see our members help mold COTW into the best Visual Basic source code resource available. But to do that we need your feedback about what you like and what you do not like about COTW.
